Feathered or furred edges are most commonly caused by damp, wrinkled, or poor-quality paper. Moisture allows ink to spread into the paper fibres, creating blurred edges.

In rare cases, debris stuck to the print head can cause this effect. Running a print head cleaning cycle usually clears the issue. Replacing the paper with a dry, good-quality stock often resolves the problem.
